What are we NOT looking forward to in 2022?
Our gaming accessories desk Volcano Gaming is waiting new games. We are preparing new products for you, testing them in various games - both FPS and RPG, strategies, etc. In the end, we need to know that we will launch products that will work great in different game genres. We test and play on the hardware we launch, so we want to make the opportunity to play new and interesting productions all the more pleasant. And those in 2021 were as scarce as possible. According to the principle of "as many people as many opinions" we differ in our assessment of games and what we play. And since we are gamers ourselves, we know what we are waiting for... But we want to share with you information about what we are NOT waiting for and why.
FIFA 2023 (or another name but everyone knows what it's about)
In this game virtually nothing has changed for years. Updated squads, slight changes in game mechanics... It's not enough. We realize that for fans every new FIFA is something new, but we are not "hardcore". We play FIFA sporadically, we know that it has millions of fans around the world, but it's the same reheated chop all the time. Maybe still tasty, but we would like to see something new. Yes, we play FIFA on PC on a keyboard. It can be done. And since the license for Electronic Arts for FIFA has ended, the game will most likely have a different name. But after all, they won't make a new game engine, let's not kid ourselves.
Songs of Conquest
A mixture of the genres of the good old "Hirks" with RPG management of the city, army, etc. Maybe it will be something new, but there have already been many announcements of various games that were supposed to beat the legends. There were games like Humankind, which was supposed to be better than Civilization, the next parts of Heroes of Might & Magic also promised "more and better", and it came out as it did - further fans of HOMM3 sit by this production and wait for a new city. We have a feeling that Songs of Conquest will be a good production, but still one that will quickly die a natural death.
Starfield
It promises to be a good one. RPG in space. Travel. Exploration of worlds. It feels like it will be such a beautiful blend of Mass Effect and Fallout. There are only a few "buts." First of all, Bethesda has accustomed us to good productions like Skyrim, but at the same time to slip-ups like Fallout 76 (it took them a baaavery long time to fix that game, and only thanks to the determination of fans). This could be a good game, but knowing this studio, this game will be good in 2024, not in 2022.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
An adventure game in the world - of sorts - of the groundbreaking Avatar from ... note ... already 13 years ago! The film was visually impressive, but already with the narrative was not the best. The film delighted the visual sense, but was nothing revelatory. The studio developing the game is said to be working closely with 20thCentury Fox and James Cameron. It's just that Avatar is not a world that causes the proverbial shivers on the body. The script and plot was nothing revelatory or new. We have a feeling that this will be another production based on the film's license that will be quickly forgotten.
Dune: Spice Wars
The movie was good. Even very good. Denis Villeneuve's 2021 Dune is certainly better than the one from David Lynch. Still, the film is far from the book. But the game? Other than the great Dune and Dune 2 back in the Amiga days, there was no game worth mentioning. We have the impression that this production was made on the wave of the success of the 2021 film. It will be done too fast and too shallow. We bet one Volcano Lanparty keyboard that the game will not reach an average 7.0 user score on Metacritic. Who among you is taking the bet?
Galactic Civilizations IV
The third part was nothing revelatory. It is a typical 4X game,i.e. explore, expand, exploit, exterminate. It may be a good game, but it's not worth waiting for. Why? Because there is the great Stellaris from Paradox Interactive. The king of 4X games in space. With a great base of mods created by the community. To beat Stellaris can not be done by some Galactic Civilizations IV. It can only be done by Stellaris 2.
Gotham Knights
Here's a game worth waiting for. A game in the world of Batman: Arkham. What those parts with Batman were good! The plot, the pleasure of playing, that dark Gotham...Plus the great role of the Joker...a mass of interesting enemies, a lot of challenges...not to play Batman and not to know the story is a great loss. But...Gotham Knights without Batman? It's like a vege chop with the taste of a normal chop. Here it will no longer be as "fun" as it was playing the Dark Knight.
Need for Speed 2022
At Need for Speed Most Wanted (the first one) we had a great time. With other (the old ones) Need for Speed we also had a great time. But it hasn't been that for years now. All that's left of Need for Speed is the name of the legendary game. And nothing more. After all, there is the great Forza Horizon and a new Test Drive Unlimited is about to appear on the horizon (yeah!). NFS2022 - for what!!!
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake
Seriously? Another remake? Still of this game? It's more of an understanding that a remake of KOTOR is being made. That's worth waiting for. But a remake of Prince of Persia? No, thank you.
